In the course of manufacturing tires and other technical products made of elastomers, plants accumulate larger quantities of scrap and spin-offs. This chiefly takes the form of rubber-coated fabric (motorcord), curing bladders, compound residue, residual fabric and yarn scraps.

Recycling high-grade materials

A portion of this waste cannot be reused in the actual production process and must therefore be recycled or disposed of. While it is not always possible to avoid having the material processed or dumped, this is hardly a sensible alternative either economically nor in terms of resource conservation.

This business segment deals exclusively with the ecologically and economically sensible referral and marketing of recyclable waste. The objective is that of reintegrating these residual materials into the recycling circuit in an economically sound fashion.

An example:

Rubber compounds with minor formula errors are no longer suitable to the production of new high-quality tires. They do, however, lend themselves easily to qualitatevly less sophisticated products like door stoppers, rubber pails etc.

International service

The recylable material sales business unit is internationally focused, with most of its business in European countries. As a subsidiary of Continental AG, REG serves not only its own production sites but also offers the same service to competitor's plants.

In the last few years it has managed to steadily expand its activities in this difficult business segment with customized concepts and bulked quantities.

By linking this business unit with the disposal and utilization of non-recyclable waste, REG offers it suppliers a waste management concept - in other words an all-in-one waste disposal program. This business unit stands for environmentally compatible recycling of the largest possible flow of materials. It is an approach that makes it possible to realize considerable savings.
